Race Time at the Mudslinger!

What is the Ultimate Mudslinger?

NEW for 2025!

Participants can choose to compete individually or as part of a relay team in either of our two exciting events on the first Saturday in April.

The competition combines the
Mudslinger Trail Run at 8:30 am and the Mudslinger XC Race (cross-country mountain biking) 11:15 am, offering a thrilling test of endurance, skill, and versatility in both running and biking disciplines.

The Mudslinger XC Race: A Northwest Tradition

Join hundreds from all over Oregon and the Northwest at the Mudslinger on the first Saturday in April for an annual celebration of mountain biking and one fun time since 1987.

Climb or grind your way to the top of a ridge, then bomb down fast-paced, loamy trails built off our Pacific Northwest logging heritage. Thanks to the dedication of trail-building enthusiasts, this experience continues to embody the spirit of adventure.

  • Course Highlights:
  • A mix of fantastic old-school logging roads and approximately 35% singletrack most years, designed to keep you on edge.
  • Challenging climbs paired with thrilling descents make for a ride you won't forget.
  • Be Prepared:
  • An excellent front tire is a must to grip the dirt.
  • With temperatures usually between 50-55°F and a 40% chance of rain, participants must be ready for anything.
  • Location and Legacy:
  • Since 2001, the event has been hosted in Blodgett, Oregon—just 20 minutes west of Corvallis.
  • The tradition dates back to the 1991 NORBA State Championships, which were held on this very ground.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Starker Forests for their support of the Mudslinger course and their commitment to recreation for all trail users in Benton County and beyond

.

Start Times

  • Trail Runners: All runners, whether individual participants or part of a relay team, start the Mudslinger Trail Run at 8:30 AM.
  • Mudslinger MTB Race: Individual participants and relay mountain bikers start the Mudslinger XC Race at 11:15 AM.

Scoring and Awards

  • Individual Competitors:
  • Athletes completing both the Mudslinger Trail Run and the Mudslinger XC Race will be scored for the Ultimate Mudslinger title in their respective age brackets (Under 49 and 50 and Over) based on their total combined race times.
  • Individual awards are also available in both diciplines
  • Relay Teams:
  • A team’s final time is the combined total of the runner’s and biker’s times. The team with the lowest cumulative time wins in their category.

This format challenges individuals to push their limits in both sports, while relay teams can excel by focusing on their strongest disciplines.

Unique Highlights

  • The Mudslinger XC Race celebrates 38 years offering a new and exciting spring challenge for athletes.
  • Competing in both the trail run and XC race provides participants with a chance to earn the prestigious "Ultimate Mudslinger Trophy" for solo efforts or gain recognition as part of a winning relay team.
  • This event embodies endurance, community, and the spirit of the outdoors for all adventure minded people!

Thank you all!
