Safety
Traffic and Cars, loose corners, Stop Signs, Dogs, Elk, and other things we can or can't control. Rules of the road at all times from start to finish!
We have an excellent track record at our events, with only a few spills requiring EMS. You are our #1 concern.
First off, please know that helmets are required anytime you are on your bike at this event. We recommend that for any gravel event that you use taillight and reflective clothing. Also, please let others know if you are pre-riding anytime before the event, including the route you are taking.
In most cases, we will get to you in 1 hr or sooner, depending on when we are notified of a crash. Locally emergency services are dispatched from Oakridge, and a local Urgent Care in Oakridge can fix up most scrapes and concerns.
Remember that the roads may have an official or emergency vehicle on the course, so stay alert to your surroundings and ride safe!
Mudslinger Events has the use of radio and Garmin Inreach units for hard-to-support satellite SOS functionality. We employ or have volunteer support and have multiple sag support personnel on bikes or possibly moto, depending on availability.
The usual way a crash goes is:
Riders are coming into the lap point or aid station and telling race personal that someone is messed up and not moving or holding an arm or knee. The next rider says the person is sitting up, followed by the next person says they are on their bike, then riders say nothing as this person is OK and comes to the aid station to get a ride out or continues.
Now that's the typical situation; in the case of an accident that appears to be dangerous, please get the rider's plate # to report to official race personnel the on course and approximate distance to.
Please let us know if you need medical attention beyond a scrape at the finish area and if you do DNF (Did not Finish), please report your plate number to the scoring officials and Mudslinger Events Staff at the venue.
Helmets are required anytime you are on your bike at this event.
