WOW….9th TOE in the bag and before I ramble I wanted to share a story over the weekend…..Guy shows up sweaty 15 minutes prior to the 50/25 start….Does not speak very much english….I guessed correct that he was Japanese and I introduced myself as he said he had “rode out from Corvallis” Sho rented a bike from Peak Sports and with one water bottle and reportedly a chocolate bar on course did 25 Miles and 3800 ft and finished! Now that was not the best part, as after finishing and finding him sitting alone and trying to recover I asked him how long has he lived here….

1st place Sho Watai from Japan in 5:24:55

He told me as he brought out his passport that he has been in this country 3 DAYS and was Sightseeing! Now for all of you who think you cant do something this amazing 24 year old sets the Gold standard for adventure and attitude…also it was his first Mountain bike Race!

Thanks for all the help and support of the TOE and stay tuned for Free Pics from Oregon Velo…Next years format will be 62/36/15 to set the tone for year 10!

Ok, 15 Spots available for the High Cascades 100 coming up on 7/20……simply and amazing time on your bike with riders from allover the US. Then…..the big Party at the Oregon 24 in Bend on 7/27 and 28……enter toe at checkout and get 10% off if you did the Test of Endurance.

More to come and final map of the 100 this weekend. Course will be marked over the weekend and into early next week

Thanks for the support and be well

Say Goodbye to May

Man…..May went by quick and the kids are getting ready to be out of school and another summer is upon us. Plenty going on with riding and planning that next event to go to and I hope to see you all soon at our summer of fun with Mudslinger Events. Next up is the OBRA state champs and Alsea Falls XC on 6/15, then I am heading back into the woods for more action at the 8th annual Test of Endurance 50 and special event that starts earlier that am with the Test of Endurance 100K all on 7/6. 60 or so spots remain for the High Cascades 100 on 7/20 and then the big party at the Oregon 24 the following week in Bend!  See you all soon and I hope you are having fun on your bike!

24 HR solo was fun!

Summer is on the Horizon

May is half way over and with memorial weekend coming up I hope weather you are cycling your way to better health and skills or running on some amazing trails or roads that we will cross paths this summer. Pic below is from Alsea falls and this weekend 5/18 we will be working with the Subaru Trail Care Crew to re-route some hard braking turns into more flow and go with better transitions for all who ride in this seldom used area so close to my home. On the Horizon for my riding is the Spokane 24 and being that I could not get anyone to commit from my Team to ride I will go it Solo and see how many laps past 10 I can get in….now maybe I can do more and being that I have rather low expectations makes this such a fun time to be on the bike and with so many events to choose from I hope I will see you in June at Alsea Falls XC on 6/15 or maybe the week after on 6/22 for the Deschutes Brewery 25th Anniversary Ride “Black Butte to Mirror Pond”

More to come as always and have a great Memorial Weekend and see you outside!
